SAMMY DENT

Samantha Dent, founder of Bacchae Theatre. I set up Bacchae in 1998 after I finished ALRA and University of Surrey. I have spent over 50% of my life teaching. I LOVE to direct and have a real affinity for classical work, especially Victorian Farce. I have toured schools with theatre in education and obtained my Equity by being Witchy Poo in Puff The Magic Dragon in 1994. I am adept at playing the baddies/witches/nutters and consider myself a comic physical performer. I am producing a Commedia Dell’arte workshop in the Easter for adults and kids.

CLAIRE COULL

Claire Coull was an international PE teacher for 28 years. A firm believer that “it’s never too late” she trained to be a professional actor when she returned to the UK. Since then, she has appeared in numerous stage plays and independent films, including ‘Miss Prism’ in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’, ‘Polonia’ in ‘Hamlet’ and ‘Marie’ in ‘Calendar Girls The Musical.’ She also enjoyed unexpected success at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe in a new writing called Love in the Time of Lockdown. More recently Claire has enjoyed some local acting in the Brighton Fringe, playing Isobel in ‘Zip Me Up Darling’, ‘Georgina’ in ‘Revenge of the Amazons’ and various cameos in ‘Call Me Daddy The Musical'.’

AUREA WILLIAMSON

This is the second time Aurea has performed with Bacchae Theatre and it has been a joy to be ridiculous…

For over 30 years Aurea was nursing, the last 15ish as a Macmillan Breast Care Nurse, with acting a fun distraction, but in 2017 with family encouragement she started a part-time acting course at Rose Bruford to “see what she was capable of”. Bit by bit, Aurea pushed herself out of her comfort zone leading to experiences she had never dreamed of – performing in Brighton Femfest, Brighton, Amsterdam and Chichester Fringes, in London to GP trainees, Theatre in Education touring and being part of the GoodCOPBadCOP26 and 28 festivals highlighting the climate crisisScreen roles include a VR series, feature and short films. With Directors Cut Theatre Company Aurea discovered new writing, and has developed a passion and enthusiasm for the classics through her ongoing training in the Meisner and Method techniques. Aurea loves digging deep into a piece of writing - exploring and bringing out a truth that aims to entertain, inspire and at times, provoke.

Aurea is very excited about 2026 – she will be performing with her son in a production of “Sweeney Todd and the String of Pearls” at Chequer Mead Theatre in East Grinstead at the end of march, and before that is working with Pocket of Light Theatre Company and renowned playwright Doug Lucie, at The Arcola Theatre in London, developing a new script to be performed in 2027.

But before all that it’s time for some farce – sometimes it is wonderful to be really silly!

When not performing she can be found singing, trying to play the piano, personal training, hiking, DIYing, enjoying outdoor life and whatever else takes her fancy – believing strongly that it is never too late.

Aurea is represented by Kew Personal Management
